HANDBUILDING TABLEWARE FOR BEGINNERS with Kira Tippenhauer | Thursdays
In our 4-week pottery classes, Kira will introduce you to a variety of hand-building techniques to create a range of handmade ceramic tableware - small dishes, large plates, trays, cups, and small serving bowls.
This class is suitable for beginners and for those looking to create tableware without the use of the pottery wheel, focusing on the free-form and organic qualities that hand-building can offer.
We will focus on using slabs, as different techniques for making slabs will be demonstrated - rolling, ‘throwing’ slabs, in addition to cutting, refining, creating rims and applying textures.
Participants will walk away with their personally designed, fully functional, microwave and dishwasher safe, handmade ceramic tableware. All levels are welcome.
COURSE FEE INCLUDES
- One-on-one guided instructions in a group setting;
- Access to materials, tools, and equipment;
- Bisque & glaze firing;
- Access to a dozen glazes.
